Based on a concept by Professor Shinzo Kimura, fabric gathered from all over Japan will be sewn together by many people, including artist Tohru Nakazaki and architect Kota Asano, and spread out over the venue in the course of the two-hour period. This gigantic furoshiki (wrapping cloth) will cover the Village of Four Seasons for the entire day.
Part 2 - Fukushima Music Liberation Zone (11:00 - 14:00, Village of Four Seasons)
Creative expression of various kinds--live music, performance, dance, art, sound installations, etc.--will be presented simultaneously in different locations around the giant-furoshiki-covered venue. The artists will choose the spots for their performances, and audience members will be free to walk around the venue and "discover" a wide range of music.
Part 3 - Orchestra FUKUSHIMA! & Fukushima Gundokudan 2011 (from 14:00 - Village of Four Seasons)
A big performance contest between the giant ensemble Orchestra FUKUSHIMA!, led by Otomo Yoshihide, and Fukushima Gundokudan 2011, led by Ryoichi Wago. We won't know what's going to happen until it happens! Participants in the School FUKUSHIMA! workshop held beforehand will also have the option of taking part in these sets. Don't miss your chance!
Part 4 - Meltdown FUKUSHIMA! (15:00 - 21:00, Village of Four Seasons and Azuma Baseball Stadium)
Fourteen projects and over 100 performers will take part in the first- ever major music event from Fukushima. A variety of concerts and events will be held on 3 stages: the Water Stage and the Flower Stage (both in the Village of Four Seasons), and the Stadium Stage (in Azuma Baseball Stadium). The event will be broadcast live throughout the world on the internet TV station DOMMUNE FUKUSHIMA! It will also be connected through live internet streaming with the "synchronized international event FUKUSHIMA!" held simultaneously around Japan and around the world. It isn't only about supporting Fukushima; it isn't only about showing the damage Fukushima has suffered. It's about proactively sending words and music from Fukushima to the world.
